Our story began in 1918 when Horace Rhodes Kenworthy, a young gear cutter for Ford in the UK, was offered the chance to lead the gear cutting department at the new Ford Factory in Cork, Ireland. Recognizing the untapped potential of a less industrialized economy, Horace took a bold step in 1922, establishing himself as a sole trader selling bearings and engineering components from the back of his Model T truck. By 1925, Reliance had its first official location on Parnell Place in Cork.
